Jones Point Trash Cleanup

Meet at the recycling bins
Join Go Green! Alexandria on Saturday, October 15th at 9am to help clean up parts of Jones Point. Jones Point has a large amount of plastic and styrofoam that has been brought in by the Potomac current. We will be meeting at the end of S. Royal St., near the recycling bins. We will be providing trash bags and plastic gloves. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, long pants and long sleeves. RSVP here: http://on.fb.me/oXNH12
26th Annual Intercoastal Cleanup
Saturday, October 15th

Oronoco Bay Park
Volunteer to participate in the Ocean Conservancy’s 26th Annual International Coastal Cleanup; which has been coordinated by Clean Virginia Waterways for the last 16 years. Come join others for this annual statewide event to clean our waterways & collect valuable data about trash & litter in our waterways. We will be holding the cleanup rain or shine. Earth Force Workshop

Find out how you can support environmental service-learning and youth civic engagement at Earth Force's upcoming workshop in Alexandria.
Master Naturalists, environmental educators, and committed volunteers are invited to join educators, teachers (grades 5-8), after-school coordinators, and partners from Alexandria, Arlington, and D.C. for this full-day workshop. Space is limited, so please contact Kurt Moser ([email protected] or 703-684-0178) if you would like to reserve a seat.
Topics to be covered include:
1) completing the Earth Force community action and problem-solving process
2) water monitoring field methods: chemical, physical, biological
3) discussion/presentation: flooding in urban streams
4) service learning project implementation
Bring a bag lunch and water bottle or mug.
Light refreshments will be provided.
