On Tuesday, December 2, 2025 or #GivingTuesday, post a photo of a sign with your favorite nonprofit's name with the hashtag #GivingTuesday by clicking on Add Your Idea and then uploading a photo. After you post, make sure to give to that nonprofit as well! We're encouraging minimum donations of $20.14 for #GivingTuesday 2014, the biggest #GivingTuesday yet!
Here's how:
- Make a sign pledging your support of your favorite nonprofit serving Alexandria and #GivingTuesday. Need a template? Click here.
- Take a photo of yourself or another individual (or animal) holding the sign.
- Login to ACTion or make a new account-it's free and easy!
- Click on Add Your Idea and upload your photo.
- The nonprofits that are represented in at least three photos will be entered in a prize drawing for $100!
- Want to help promote #GivingTuesday through social media? Tweet your photo @GivingTues and @ACTionAlexVA with #unselfie. We'll be tweeting out your photos as well!
- Questions? Please contact: Kerrin Epstein at [email protected] or 703-739-7778.
And here's some inspiration from ACT's office mascot, Maggie Porter and her dad, John Porter, President and Chief Executive Officer of ACT for Alexandria (we recommend giving money instead of biscuits):

"Read to the children living at Carpenter's Shelter. #unselfie" Carpenter's Shelter's volunteers provide many valuable services, including investing into our families through Children's Hour!

I support UpCycle! I also support their Fur-Vor project!
My mom started Arts on the Horizon, a theatre company with arts education programs and shows designed for children ages 0-6 when I was 4 years old. I want to help her continue to bring theatre to little kids all over VA, DC and MD!

It is so fun to upcycle. It helps us to be creative and turn "trash" into something we never want to throw away.
