Whether it's an issue about bike lanes, a new community group, a useful tool to help locals or whatever you can think of, we want to hear about it.
Share your bright Idea below and start asking friends and neighbors to support it. Learn more about Ideas and Idea Challenges in our screencast:

Have you been to a youth baseball/soccer/lacrosse event in the City of Alexandria? If so you must have seen the trash can overflowing with cans, Gatorade and water bottles. Seems a shame that all that plastic is going straight to a landfill when it would be SO...
Painted mural of a Community Garden on the North wall of VeloCity Bicycle Co-op (2111 Mt. Vernon Avenue) where a living wall would be built (real planter boxes would be attached to the wall). The planter boxes would line up with the rows for the produce, showing the way...
Across the city natural areas are threatened by invasive plants and are in need of community invasive removal volunteer services. Your $2000 grant will be used to purchase tools and gloves as well as to support publicity for regular and ongoing invasive removal efforts along streams...

The Art League, in particular, deserves more space as do artists. Keep restaurants out of the Torpedo factory.
Alexandria should build a website to display the community indicators the city collected through the Alexandria Qualify of Life Indicators initiative. The website would display statistical profiles and maps of Alexandria as compared to other jurisdictions, and eventually could display...
Alexandria City can use more Gardening and food production classes: container gardening, gardening on cement or other non-porous surface, simple rooftop gardening- will not only reduce stormwater run off but also produce food. $2000 will fund a summer intern job who will work...
Create a community garden on the unused bridge over Four Mile Run in Potomac Yard. I think the bridge is scheduled for demolition as part of the master Potomac Yard plan. Instead of the expense associated with demolition, make good use of the space - it gets plenty of sun (there is...
Why don't we install a small 9-hole course in Alexandria or, at least, a driving range? Seems a shame to have to drive into Fairfax or WDC (and spend $$ there) when it would be much more rewarding activity right here in AVA. There was a lot of space for this, back before Potomac Yards and...
At the GW Classic on Apri 13, 2014, plastic bottles and thermal heat blankets along with cardboard food boxes were all tossed in the trash. These can be reycled AND earn money for the city's reclycling program! We just need coordination! Recycling bins at prominent locations...
