Non-Native Invasive Plant Removal Days
Across the city natural areas are threatened by invasive plants and are in need of community invasive removal volunteer services. Your $2000 grant will be used to purchase tools and gloves as well as to support publicity for regular and ongoing invasive removal efforts along streams and in parks. Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will organize invasive removal days along with Master Naturalists and Tree Stewards to fight English ivy, bradford pear, bamboo and other plants that threaten our green spaces. Your funding of tools will be leveraged many times over by volunteer involvement with adjacent neighborhood residents. First project: Strawberry Run at Duke St. Next? Your neighborhood!
